Our STINGFREE technology is unique and based around a cutting edge, patented, multi-layer composite.  A composite material is formed, when two or more materials, with very different properties, are combined together.  The different materials when combined will work together to produce a new material, which combines all of the properties of the previously separate materials.

The base multilayer composite is a combination of, at least, two layers of low-durometer (soft), comfortable elastomers and a layer of high tensile strength fibers, such as, aramid (ballistics fiber).  The resultant composite is thin, light and soft but extremely stable.  This thin, conformable composite will dissipate, absorb, isolate and damp large amounts of impact and vibrational energy.   

The multilayer composite that is clinically proven to absorb up to 80% of the vibrational and impact energies applied to it.  As compared to typical foam, gels and rubbers that will bottom out and can only absorb 10% to 20%.

The StingFree Composite Technology is a patented, unique multilayer product consisting of at least three distinct layers:

1.   The First Layer:  Consists of a soft energy absorbing elastomer (low durometer). This elastomer (plastic) exhibits; high impact & vibrational energy absorption, isolation and damping capabilities.

2.   The Second Layer: Consists of high tensile strength fibers such as aramid (ballistic fiber). This fiber layer has the ability to stabilize the product; and at the same time absorb, redirect and dissipate the impact & vibrational energy.  High tensile strength fiber like aramid are at least five (5) times stronger than steel.

3.   The Third Layer: Consists of soft comfortable elastomer (low durometer). This layer can be composed of a different type of elastomer or the same elastomer with a different hardness (durometer reading).  It also exhibits high energy absorption, isolation and damping capabilities. 

The resultant new composite material is thin, light and soft but extremely stable; and will dissipate, absorb and damp large amounts of impact and vibrational energy.  

StingFree composite technology works like a bulletproof vest, in the ability of the fiber layer (ballistic fiber) to block and spread the impact energy out over a wide area.

A ballistic vest and our padding composite perform like a soccer net, catching a soccer ball. The energy of the soccer ball’s impact is spread over the entire net, dissipating the energy and bringing the ball to a slow stop.


A soccer net is formed by many long lengths of fiber, interlaced with each other and fastened to the goal frame. When the ball strikes the net, it pushes back on the fibers at that particular point. The fibers are interconnected and extend from one side of the frame to the other, so the ball’s energy is spread from the point of impact over a wide area and the whole net works together to absorb the impact energy.

In the StingFree composite, after the impact energy has been dispersed and decelerated by the fiber layer, the energy will be absorbed and dampened by the elastomer layers.

 

Bad Vibrations

Regular exposure to vibration can cause a range of temporary and permanent injuries to the body. These injuries are becoming such a serious problem that OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) has set standards limiting the amount of vibrational exposure a person can withstand in an industrial setting.

This type of vibration is the transfer of energy by mechanical oscillations, traveling through an object, from one point to another, in wave form.

Vibrational energy waves moves through an object just like waves traveling across the water in a pond. The waves emanate from the impact energy of an object (e.g. a stone) striking the water and travel outward.



An 'Energy Wave' will propagate though an object, transferring energy from the area of impact or disturbance to associated objects. This destructive energy can be transferred into a human body by its contact with the vibrating object, causing acute and chronic damage. The injuries could include damage to: circulatory system, sensory nerves, muscles, bones and joints.

The effect of vibration exposure depends on the frequency and magnitude of the vibration. Each part of the body has its own resonant frequency, to which it is very sensitive. If exposure occurs at or near any of these resonant frequencies, the resulting effect can be increased.
